Fotografiska is pleased to present award-winning photographer Pari Dukovic; author Marc Happel, New York City Ballet’s Director of Costumes; and fashion designer Anna Sui, in a conversation moderated by Ivan Shaw, Corporate Photography Director of Condé Nast Publications.
They will discuss the stunning results of the decade-long collaboration between New York City Ballet’s in-house costume atelier, under Happel’s direction, and the fashion design legends selected each year to create costumes for the ballets that are performed at NYCB’s annual Fall Fashion Gala.
The talk will explore the Company’s decision to commemorate this milestone with a book, and how photographer Pari Dukovic — working closely with costume director Marc Happel — creatively directed a photo shoot in six days with 11 dancers in 129 costumes under mid-pandemic conditions. They will also discuss Sui’s experience bringing her fashion inspiration from design concept to the stage.
