An artist-led reimagining of television news

Hero Image for For Freedoms: News Desk

About the event

Join the For Freedoms team and special guest artists at the For Freedoms News desk. You will have the opportunity to sit at the news desk and record your own news segment! For Freedoms News (FFN) was launched during a residency at the Brooklyn Museum as an artist-led reimagining of television news as well as an art installation, performance, and conversation.

Fotografiska is home to the For Freedoms exhibition Listen Until You Hear, on now through October 2023. As part of the exhibition’s programming, Fotografiska will be hosting the For Freedoms News desk in order to further engage audiences around the themes of listening in relation to storytelling, media literacy and public discourse. Listening supports greater understanding, criticality and compassion.

ABOUT FOR FREEDOMS

Established in 2016, For Freedoms is an artist-led organization that models and increases creative civic engagement, discourse, and direct action. For Freedoms works with artists and organizations to center the voices of artists in public discourse, expand on what participation in a democracy looks like, and reshape conversations about politics. In service of cultivating a culture that values awakening, justice, listening and healing, For Freedoms explores healing and listening in 2023 through art and collaboration.
