Real-world films by kids

About the event

Join us for a screening of two films, Beekeeper (USA), and Another World is Possible (Germany).

Following the screening will be a conversation with BYkids Founder & Executive Director Holly Carter and former senior official at the White House, State Department and U.S. Department of Energy David Sandalow, about the power of youth storytelling, story sharing changing the classroom experience, personal stories making global issues relevant and actionable.

In partnership with public television and education innovators, we share the films and their activation resources to help make global issues feel personal, relevant and actionable for millions of students.
Our work serves as a catalyst for change—igniting important conversations and inspiring a new generation of social activists.

Pulitzer Prize-nominated journalist and nonprofit leader Holly Ornstein Carter founded BYkids in 2007 as a platform for youth from around the world to create documentaries that nurture empathy, spark conversations and inspire a new generation of changemakers. These films reach 83 million households in partnership with public television, and their supporting educational resources are distributed to middle and high schools across the United States through PBS LearningMedia and Discovery Education.

Previously, Holly led the Global Film Initiative and co-founded North Carolina's Full Frame Festival, the world's largest documentary film festival after a successful career in journalism at The New York Times.
