About the Event
A discussion about health vulnerabilities within the Hip-Hop community, acknowledging the loss of so many too young and demystifying the stigma of asking for help. As well as, information about free and affordable resources available to improve overall health.
The panel will take place as part of the Hip Hop: Conscious, Unconscious exhibition at Fotografiska and feature insights from rapper Doug E. Fresh also known as the âOriginal Human Beatboxâ (and Founding Honorary Board Member of Hip-Hop Public Health), Erfan Karim (Executive Director of Express Care at NYC Health and Hospitals), and Jennifer Leff (LCSW, Managing Director, Human Services at MusiCares). Moderated by Dr. Olajide Williams of Hip-Hop Public Health.
Opening remarks will be given by Ariel Palitz, Founding Director of the NYC Office of Nightlife at the Mayorâs Office of Media and Entertainment which promotes health, wellness and harm reduction programs for the nightlife community including the âELEVATE Nightlife: Health & Wellbeingâ Initiative and the âNARCAN Behind Every Barâ campaign.
