Chapel Salon

With Michael Avedon of Breach Magazine

Hero Image for Chapel Salon

About the event

Michael Avedon, photographer and founder of Breach Magazine, hosts our second Chapel Salon with guest Amy Fine Collins. On the occasion of Fotografiska’s exhibition of the work of Terry O’Neill, Stars, he will lead a discussion about the power of photography in representing and transforming our perception of public figures.

Avedon is based in New York City, where he graduated from the International Center of Photography. He collaborates with brands including Dior, Tom Ford, Piaget, Bulgari, Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein, Zac Posen, Norrell, and many more. Michael’s 2018 cover story for New York Magazine “72 Years of School Shootings” was widely recognized as one of the year’s most significant works of photojournalism and was awarded Best Cover Photography of the Year by the Society of Publication Designers.

The scope of Michael Avedon’s work is a testament to his versatility as an artist; his empathy for his subjects, his knowledge of history and interest in current events, and the capacity of photography to express and document individual narratives and universal themes.

“Humanity has always inspired me and the camera has been a life-changing vehicle for exploring the human condition. Seeking a certain accelerated emotion and a fleeting truth in portraiture, while creating a world of fantasy and divine glamour in fashion images, fuels my passion for the glorious medium of photography every day.”

The Chapel Salon will be an exclusive seasonal gathering held in the intimate surroundings of Chapel Bar, a beautiful speakeasy that sits beside Church Missions House, the historical six floor building on Park Avenue South that is home to Fotografiska in New York.

Tickets are available individually or paired with a dinner in Verōnika, featuring a beautifully curated feasting menu.
