Black Venus
Closing Conversation
About the Event
On the occasion of the blockbuster exhibit Black Venus, now in its final weeks, Deux Femmes Noires co-founder Racquel Chevremont joins author and Gallery Gurls founder Jasmin Hernandez for a closing conversation. Hernandez will engage Chevremont in an intimate conversation about her contributions to Black Venus through Deux Femmes Noires, including Chevremont’s and Mickalene Thomas’ other prolific projects through Deux Femmes Noires, with a special focus on Chevremont’s robust career as a curator, advisor, and collector. A celebratory night of Black womanhood, agency, and the culture-shifting ways Black women continue to shape visual culture.
Following the talk, Hernandez will be signing copies of her curated collection We Are Here: Visionaries of Color Transforming the Art World (https://www.abramsbooks.com/product/we-are-here_9781419747595/), which are now available for purchase at the Fotografiska bookstore.
